It is only fitting that even my volunteer work revolves around food!! On Thursday I participated in the FRESH Young Professional's group "Helpie Hour" at the Houston Food Bank. FRESH, is a group comprised of young professionals whose work focuses on benefiting the Houston Food Bank. While at a happy hour last week I learned about a great organization, No Kid Hungry and an exciting annual event they host called Taste of the Nation. At the meet up, representatives from No Kid Hungry spoke highly of their organization and all the work they do. It seemed like a worthy cause, so once I made it home I did some more research and found their mission statement: NO CHILD SHOULD GROW UP HUNGRY IN AMERICA. But 1 in 5 children struggles with hunger.
