Brunch at BB Italia

Let's talk about brunch people! I get so excited when I have a new brunch recommendation.  Mainly because I know that is why many of you come here and I try to give the people what they want!  A few weekends ago, a foodie friend and I visited BB Italia for brunch.  BB Italia is the sister restaurant to one of my all time favorites, B&B Butchers.  So you can imagine I was excited to visit and even more excited to visit for brunch.  Get in to this breakdown of Brunch at BB Italia! The Setup BB Italia is off [...]

Brunch at Whiskey Cake

Y'all, I did something I rarely do! I traveled out to the burbs for brunch! This trip just so happened to be to Whiskey Cake which I have heard nothing but great things about.  I was beyond excited to try it, so much so that the drive down I10 didn't even seem that bad.  For this foodie adventure, I grabbed foodie friend Bridgette of Bits 'n Bites for a Saturday Brunch at Whiskey Cake! The Setup Okay y'all know I judge restaurants out in the burbs.  They all look the same and lack character.  Whiskey Cake definitely breaks the stereotype!  The [...]

Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina

With everyone so hung up on brunch, it seems like we forget how great a simple breakfast can be.  I got a reminder last weekend with a stop over to Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina in Memorial for their weekend breakfast!  It is so good and worth the early morning wake up! The bar area! The Drinks Since it was still breakfast, I kind of expected to only be offered coffee and OJ (hold the pulp).  Well the one thing that feels brunch like would be the drink menu.   The brunch cocktails include sangria, bloody marys and the [...]

Brunch at State Fare

I am embarking on a slow mission to try some new brunch spots so that I can update my brunch faves for 2018! First on the list, a stop over to State Fare.  I have blogged about State Fare in the past, but had yet to try their brunch menu which everyone seems to rave about.  Well add me to the fan club because the Brunch at State Fare is SO good.  Check out all the details below! The Location Since my last visit, State Fare did a pretty extensive remodel.  The color concept changed and barriers were added to [...]

Brunch and Football!

The calendar says it is fall, yet Houston temperatures say otherwise! Despite our fall weather challenges there are a few other signs that fall is upon us, including football!  Eventually the weather will cooperate and when it does, two of the greatest Sunday events converge to create the ultimate Sunday Funday!  Brunch and Football! So here is how I made this list.   There are plenty of brunch spots around town, but many of them do not have ample televisions to really enjoy all of the Sunday NFL games.   On the other end, many sports bars lack dedicated brunch [...]

It’s Not Delivery, It’s Brunch at Home!

So technically it IS delivery, but I loved this title so I had to go with it!  Brunch is very much a social experience. You grab your crew and catch up on the good gossip around a carafe of mimosas.  I completely get that, but some days I just want the food without the fluff.   Basically send me the chicken and waffles to my door, so I do not have to don makeup and a cute outfit!  For me, during the weekend when I am working my to 5-9 (i.e. this blog) having brunch delivered is THE best thing! [...]

Breakfast Brunch Cafe in Cypress

Yes, you read that right, Breakfast Brunch Cafe IN "Cypress."  I actually ventured past the loop to try a brunch/breakfast spot out in the suburb.   Of course there is a backstory!  So I grew up in Cypress which is partly why I have a love/hate relationship with it.  My parents still love it and as retirees spend much of their time trying new spots.  A couple of months ago my parents RAVED to me about a new black owned breakfast spot out by them.   "Oh you must try it!" they told me.  My response of course was, I [...]

Black Girls Who Brunch: Favorite Houston Brunches

I wrote my first "favorite Houston brunches" way back in May 2015 as one of my first posts on this website.  So much has changed since then and as you can imagine, I have visited a lot more Houston brunch spots.  So now I am back with an update to the list, "Black Girls Who Brunch: Favorite Houston Brunches" just in time for the influx of Super Bowl visitors :). Since I am loyal many of the spots are the same since the last list, but I had to add some new favorites.  Just like last time, I am not claiming [...]

The Morning After Brunch Event Review

I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Morning After Brunch event hosted by Houston Press!  This event allowed attendees to sample the top brunch spots in the city in one venue.  Talk about convenient!  I scored VIP tickets which allowed me early entry.  With no lines I meandered through the different booths, took great pictures and decided on my favorite, all before the general admission folks entered.  The line curved around the parking lot and once they opened the flood gates, I kicked back in the VIP section.   In short, invest in VIP tickets.  For all of the [...]
