Davis St. at Hermann Park Featuring Chef Holley

A few years ago, Houston lost two great black owned restaurants Holley's and Davis Street at Hermann Park.  As I have traveled this year, I am learning that Houston is lucky in that not only do we have a plethora of black owned restaurants, but they also run the gamut in terms of restaurant type.   For example, we have high-end celebratory kind of restaurants that are also black owned.  Holley's and Davis Street fell in that "when you feeling fancy" category of a restaurant so I was sad to see them go! Well this year, in 2019, the owners behind [...]

Guide to Reno Nevada

*This trip was sponsored by the Reno Airport Services Corporation. All opinions are my own* A few weeks ago, I received an invite from the Reno Airport Services Corporation to visit and see that all Reno and the surrounding cities had to offer!  Now I must admit, I thought it could have been a scam, but once  I learned that United Airlines recently added a year around direct flight from Houston to Reno that the team wanted to showcase! For followers of my blog, you know this has been my year of travel so who am I to say no [...]

Bravery Chef Hall

I am obsessed with food halls (our fancy phrase for cafeterias) and downtown Houston is feeding my obsession by continuing to add new food halls!  Currently, we have Conservatory, Finn Hall, Understory and now Bravery Chef Hall.  I have been to them all and would recommend them all for different reasons.  Most recently, I stopped by Bravery Chef Hall a food hall located at the bottom of the Aris Market Square Apartments.   While the basic concept is similar, Bravery Chef Hall features restaurants curated by chefs making their offerings a step above others.  Check out my experience during a lunchtime [...]

What to See in Charleston

Whenever I would say I wanted to visit Charleston people would ask me why?! It was not New York City, or LA or even Miami what was the attraction?  Well... it all started with a little television show called Southern Charm (do not judge me!).  I watch just about everything on Bravo so this show was no different.  From the show, I learned how beautiful Charleston is.  I did a little more research and learned more about all of the African American history in Charleston and decided that I MUST GO! I shared with you what I ate, but now [...]

Postino Wine Cafe

It took Postino Wine Cafe opening a second location in Montrose for me to finally visit.  Trust it was not for lack of trying.  Ever since Postino opened their first location in the Heights, I have been trying in live my best life on their patio!  Well since it has remained popular since opening, I could never snag a table.  So please know that I was SO excited when I received an event to the soft opening of the Montrose location!  I finally got to see the hype about Postino Wine Cafe.  Check out my experience below! The Setup At [...]

Brunch at Whiskey Cake

Y'all, I did something I rarely do! I traveled out to the burbs for brunch! This trip just so happened to be to Whiskey Cake which I have heard nothing but great things about.  I was beyond excited to try it, so much so that the drive down I10 didn't even seem that bad.  For this foodie adventure, I grabbed foodie friend Bridgette of Bits 'n Bites for a Saturday Brunch at Whiskey Cake! The Setup Okay y'all know I judge restaurants out in the burbs.  They all look the same and lack character.  Whiskey Cake definitely breaks the stereotype!  The [...]
