Volunteering at the Houston Food Bank

In true Houston fashion, Houstonians are around town trying to help and volunteer wherever they can.   Many places have had AMAZING turnout and are having to turn volunteers away!  I have had so many friends reach out and tell me they are having a hard time finding places to volunteer because places are full!  This is so representative of the city I know and love!   Yesterday, I spent the evening volunteering at the Houston Food Bank to help with the increase need after the hurricane.  I thought I would share you with you about my fun experience Volunteering [...]

Houston, My Hometown

I spent most of my childhood and now adult life living in my hometown of Houston.  I love this city to its core.  It is a beautiful city filled with an amazing diverse population that love this city as much as I do.  We have watched horrified as our city has taken on historic amounts of rain.  An estimated 50 inches will fall in Houston before this is all over.  The amount Houston sees in a year, in a matter of DAYS.  My hometown is a lake.  The highways are rivers.  Many of my fellow Houstonians have lost everything.   Thankfully, [...]

This food blogger *points to self* is knee deep in a two week trial at Revolution Studios and I wanted to share with you all a bit of my experience! Bernie’s Burger Bus Heights

Can you guys believe this last month was my first visit to Bernie's Burger Bus?!  I always hear Bernie's mentioned as one of the best local burger spots in town I just had not made my way to one of their locations yet. Luckily, their team invited me out for a tasting at their brand new location in the Heights!  The cool thing about Bernie's? It literally started out as a food truck run out of an old bus, hence the name.  Some of their original spots to park the bus were in the Heights.  Bernie's is now full circle [...]

No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Yes this is another ice cream recipe because I am OBSESSED with making ice cream okay?   Everyone will deal! This one is a little different though.  I decided to step away from my typical ice cream recipes  that require the Kitchen Aid ice cream attachment and create a no churn recipe.  Basically, you make it, freeze it and serve! It takes NO time.   For my first attempt, I went for a recipe that is similar to the Talenti Caramel Crunch that I love, and created a No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream! No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream [...]

Week 1: Houston Restaurant Weeks!

August is the month where food bloggers like myself run around like crazy people trying to eat at ALL the good restaurants during Houston Restaurant Weeks for the low.  Add in that a portion of my meal purchase goes to charity?  Yeah I'm in there like swimwear.   For those who do not know, each August Houston's premiere restaurants participate in Houston Restaurants Weeks.  They offer two to three course meals during brunch, lunch, or dinner for $20-45 bucks!  It is the BEST time to try that restaurant that may set you back a few coins. So I being the [...]

When my friend from college hits me up to schedule a dinner, I instantly get excited! She is guaranteed to suggest a restaurant that has been on my radar, but I just have not had anyone to go with!  On this occasion she immediately suggested Rise No. 2, the soufflé focused restaurant.  I was ALL in to stop over at the Galleria located restaurant to indulge on some soufflés.   So it is fitting that this post is ALL about Soufflés at Rise No. 2! The Setup Rise No 2 is located in the BLVD place in the Galleria area. Outside they [...]

Brunch at Around the Corner

EADO (East Downtown) seems to be the new hot area in Houston! I guess I am a follower because this is my third post from a spot in EADO this summer alone!  This past weekend I grabbed by blogger friend Chef Vicky and we headed to Around the Corner to catch up on things like Insecure and strategize about this blogging game.   Check out my recap of Brunch at Around the Corner! The Setup: Around the Corner is housed in a converted 1930s bungalow.   The charm of the home remains with original hard floors and a floor plan [...]
