Happy Hour at 51fifteen

Have you seen the beautiful new Saks Fifth Avenue at the Houston Galleria?  Ever since it opened I have been dying to visit!  Well I got a chance a few weeks ago when Saks invited my Houston Food Blogger Collective group out for an event.  Keep reading for my experience! Setup: The Galleria can be intimidating to maneuver.  Thankfully, Saks is one of the few stores that you can enter from a parking garage without going into the main mall.  From there you take an elevator right up to the second floor into the restaurant.   You can also enjoy [...]

The Sweet List

As a kid, I was weird and hated sweets.  I would pass on my own birthday cake and cringe when offered chocolate.  What was wrong with me?!  Sometime between then and now I developed a massive sweet tooth which constantly puts me on the hunt for the best desserts in Houston.   I wrote about this some years back and that list still holds true.  I just got a tad greedier since that list and discovered several new spots, thus creating the Sweet List! Check below for my additions :) Amorino Who doesn't love good ice cream?  Well, when it comes in [...]

Vanilla Bean Frozen Custard Recipe

Many many moons ago, I was an unemployed attorney living the housewife life (don't ask lol).  With a gift card I purchased my most cherished kitchen item, a KitchenAid mixer.  It immediately sent me into a baking frenzy and recipe creation. Then once I picked up the ice cream attachment I was deep into creating the perfect at home frozen custard because the ice cream starters kits are for suckers.  I shared this recipe on an old blog that I no longer post on.  Since I abandoned it, the recipe has been shared countless times, so it seemed like a [...]

Black Girls Who Brunch: Favorite Houston Brunches

I wrote my first "favorite Houston brunches" way back in May 2015 as one of my first posts on this website.  So much has changed since then and as you can imagine, I have visited a lot more Houston brunch spots.  So now I am back with an update to the list, "Black Girls Who Brunch: Favorite Houston Brunches" just in time for the influx of Super Bowl visitors :). Since I am loyal many of the spots are the same since the last list, but I had to add some new favorites.  Just like last time, I am not claiming [...]

Black Girls Who Brunch Houston Foodie Guide

When friends or family come to visit me in Houston, I take showing them a good time very seriously!  Houston is one of those cities that does not have a reputation like a Vegas, New York or Miami, so it is up to me to show them why I love this city so much. Since I became a food blogger, they all show up expecting me to take them on a culinary tour that is diverse as Houston.  That is where the fun comes in!  With each guest, I try to showcase the growing foodie scene in Houston by highlighting [...]

Etta’s Kitchen

If you are familiar with the Houston brunch scene, the name "Etta's" may ring a bell as the pop up at 5015 every Sunday.  Over the holiday break my blogger friend Renia organized an event at Etta's Kitchen so we could experience their new brick and mortar location in the historic Third Ward.  This was hands down one of the best events I attended in 2016.  Keep reading for more on this fun experience :) The Concept What I am honestly most excited about are the events that Etta's Kitchen will be hosting, right in our community.   There are plenty [...]

Healthy Options at Hopdoddy!

The start of the new year means #NewYearNewMe for a lot of folks.  For us foodies, common new year's resolutions are vows to cook more, eat out less and of course eat healthier.  With those pledges our favorite food spots get dumped at the start of the year and we only come back once our resolutions are forgotten.  Keeping this in mind, the good folks over at Hopdoddy invited me to come back out and try the other side of their menu, the healthy side! Menu! The Details I have been to Hopdoddy before and blogged about it [...]

To Split the Check or Not?

So I am an avid twitter user, logging in numerous times a day.  One of the draws for me is the constant conversations about current events, politics, reality tv and a host of other things.  Twitter is often times a focus group of sorts if you want to get a variety of opinions.  I have seen people debate whether a $200 date is acceptable or the best way to approach a woman you are interested in.  Trust me, these debates are reoccurring and hilarious.  A recent debate got me thinking and I decided that this topic deserves a blog post. [...]

I know it's been over a month since I returned from Paris, but I have more to say!!
