Sweet Potato Pie Ice Cream

Something about fall makes me want retreat to my home, pull out my comfy clothes and cook my favorite comfort foods.  In fact, most of the recipes on my blog seem to pop up around this time of year.  So my calendar says it is fall and right on time I felt inspired to create something new.  Now, I know most people equate fall with "pumpkin spice." I will be upfront and not that I am NOT a fan and opt for all things sweet potato! So for the fall, I am always on the hunt for how to turn [...]

KitchenAid Ice Cream Attachment vs. Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

Making frozen custard/ice cream is kinda my thing.   I created a good vanilla ice cream base (find it here) and kind of went from there creating various versions from pistachio, cinnamon olive oil,  to a dairy free and even a no-churn version.   With all but the last recipe, I have used my KitchenAid Mixer Ice Cream Bowl attachment to churn up these great treats.  Despite being happy with my final products, I always wondered about that competitor ice cream maker, the Cuisinart!  I just happened to catch the last generation of the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker on sale for $45 [...]

Cinnamon Olive Oil Gelato

I know you read that title and thought olive oil and gelato do NOT go together.  Hear me out though!  A few weeks back the company Zucchi sent me some olive oil with no strings attached.  If I tried and liked the product, they hoped that I would share with you all.  My package included four different olive oils including a Sweet & Fruity one.  Intrigued, I went online looking for recipe ideas for sweet olive oil.  It was there I found the idea for OLIVE OIL GELATO.   So two things, I love making ice cream/custard and I just returned from [...]

No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Yes this is another ice cream recipe because I am OBSESSED with making ice cream okay?   Everyone will deal! This one is a little different though.  I decided to step away from my typical ice cream recipes  that require the Kitchen Aid ice cream attachment and create a no churn recipe.  Basically, you make it, freeze it and serve! It takes NO time.   For my first attempt, I went for a recipe that is similar to the Talenti Caramel Crunch that I love, and created a No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream! No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream [...]

Today just so happens to be National Ice Cream Day! As you may have gathered, ice cream or frozen custard recipes are probably my favorite things to make!  For National Ice Cream Day I decided to change it up a bit and make a dairy free frozen custard.  Please do not think for a second that I am shifting over to a health food blog, because that ain't me! Pistachio Frozen Custard

*Sticks pinky toe outside* it is officially summer in Houston therefore it is appropriate for me to bust out another frozen custard recipe!  After visiting Cafe Azur and Peli Peli I became obsessed with pistachio ice cream! Prior to visiting these local restaurants, I did not trust green ice cream so I avoided it.  I felt like Mikey from the old Life cereal commercials, because after trying it I actually liked it.  When I try random things out, it makes me want to go home and try to make it on my own to suit my tastebuds and pickiness (See here [...]

Vanilla Bean Frozen Custard Recipe

Many many moons ago, I was an unemployed attorney living the housewife life (don't ask lol).  With a gift card I purchased my most cherished kitchen item, a KitchenAid mixer.  It immediately sent me into a baking frenzy and recipe creation. Then once I picked up the ice cream attachment I was deep into creating the perfect at home frozen custard because the ice cream starters kits are for suckers.  I shared this recipe on an old blog that I no longer post on.  Since I abandoned it, the recipe has been shared countless times, so it seemed like a [...]
