As you may have already gathered, I like brunch! So when a few of my former co-workers suggested we get together for a much needed reunion, brunch was my suggestion. We settled on Dish Society in the Galleria area (there is also a Katy location), because I kept seeing it popping up on Best of Houston lists so I figured it was worth I try.
Unfortunately, I did not partake in the mimosas this go around, but by glancing at the menu it seems like they offer more variety than your typical champagne and orange juice. They even had something called a Bromosa, which I assume is beer and juice with a cute name! My friends seemed to enjoy prickly pear mimosas.
I had the Nutella French Toast. Despite the blah presentation it was pretty good! It’s made with whole grain bread, which I typically am not a huge fan of it but in this dish it worked. Also, even though I love Nutella, like the rest of America, next time I’ll ask that they go a little easy on the Nutella. That mixed with syrup can be a little too much at times, but overall I enjoyed the French Toast enough to come back and try it again.
It’s set up like a Chiptole, where you place your order and then pick your own table, but unlike Chipotle they bring your orders to the table. I am sure there is a name for this type of restaurant but it escapes me at the moment. I’m told that dinner offers table service, but I haven’t been for dinner yet to confirm. Anywho, it’s a laid back atmosphere with patio seating in the back and front. Get there early though because the line goes out the door and in this Texas heat that would make anyone hangry (hungry + angry = hangry).
