Houston foodies collectively mourned the closure of Triniti late last year. Those tears were quickly calmed once the masterminds behind Triniti announced that they would be opening a new concept, FM Kitchen + Bar near the Washington Corridor before Summer 2017! This past week, I had the privilege of visiting FM Kitchen + Bar before the grand opening. Check out my experience below!
The Setup
FM Kitchen is located at Shepherd and Washington right behind the original Max’s Wine Dive. Somehow they managed to nab a location with a parking lot. That alone will keep folks coming in! From the parking lot, you make your way to the outdoor eating area which includes games, tables and an area for a band. They also allow pets on the patio.

Open windows!
Inside, you will enjoy large open windows which create the indoor/outdoor feel, a nice sized bar and plenty of televisions to watch sports. During my visit, I watched the Rockets in game six against the Spurs. *Heavy Sigh* there is always next year I suppose. Also of note, both inside and outside have counters that imply you will need to order your food yourself. They wisely decided against that and will have waitstaff on hand.
Drinks

FM Punch
The bar included plenty of beers on tap including local favorites. I’m not a beer drinker so I stuck on the cocktail side of the menu. For me the FM Punch called my name because punch usually means fruity. My hunch was correct as it was an enjoyable fruity cocktail.

The watermelon mule!
The Food

Sweet & Spicy Wings
Since it’s a bar I wanted to try out their wings. If you have anything at a sports bar, you should have wings and they better be good. These wings were described sweet and spicy wings, while they were good, I wouldn’t say either of these flavors were present for me. I am actually not a fan of spicy, so this was a win in my book.

“Give me some of your tots!!”

FM Chicken Sandwich
Next up came the entrees. So, this spot will be known for their burgers and I probably should have ordered that. I on the other hand was all about the chicken on this evening and went for the FM Chicken Sandwich. The agave butter sauce truly sets this dish off, so do not skip that dish. Finally, I added some tater tots as a side. I feel like a five year old or rather Napoleon Dynamite, but I loved these darn tater tots! They were the perfect level of crispiness, yum!
As if all of that was not enough, I even ordered dessert. The bread pudding called my name and I am not one to say no so I indulged. The bread base was like a pound cake with tres leches sauce and tons of powder sugar. If you think this was a sugar rush, you’d be correct. I was ALL for it. I would just probably nix the fruit sauce next time because I’m weird, other than that delicious!
Here are a few other dishes my fellow bloggers ordered!
The Takeaway
There were a lot of highs for FM Kitchen + Bar including their indoor/outdoor setup, parking AND the food. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can see myself posted up during the fall when football season starts. FM Kitchen + Bar officially opens Friday May 19th, but you can sneak in early this week during the soft opening.
