Passion Fruit Ginger Cocktail

Well hello April!  Spring time is when Houston shines!  Our brief winter is a distant memory and yet we have not reached peak Houston humidity or heat.  For that reason, I love to hang out outdoors on patios with family and friends before it gets too hot.   Of course, a visit to the patio requires a cocktail!  Enter my new creation, a Passion Fruit Ginger Cocktail! So this weekend, I created the Passion Fruit Ginger Cocktail while hanging out on my parents patio.  To make my life easier, I added the Passion Fruit, Welch's Refrigerated Cocktail as [...]

Cinnamon Olive Oil Gelato

I know you read that title and thought olive oil and gelato do NOT go together.  Hear me out though!  A few weeks back the company Zucchi sent me some olive oil with no strings attached.  If I tried and liked the product, they hoped that I would share with you all.  My package included four different olive oils including a Sweet & Fruity one.  Intrigued, I went online looking for recipe ideas for sweet olive oil.  It was there I found the idea for OLIVE OIL GELATO.   So two things, I love making ice cream/custard and I just returned from [...]

Brown Sugar Cookies with Candy Canes!

So I am back to creating great dessert recipes for the blog!  The older I get, the more I relate to one of my aunts.  She can cook just about anything, but her speciality is baking.   Like her, that is what I enjoy!  With Christmas around the corner, I decided to go for some Christmas style cookies and came up with the idea for Brown Sugar Cookies with Candy Canes. Hear me out on why this is an amazing combination that you NEED for the holidays!  First of all, brown sugar over white sugar all day everyday!  It brings a [...]

The Mac & Cheese Rules

Let me start by saying I LOVE mac 'n cheese.  It is my all time favorite side dish.  I enjoy making it and of course partaking in devouring it.  As the Thanksgiving holiday approached, I got excited about all the mac 'n cheese I planned to eat.  Then something odd happened, it seemed like everyone was presenting their own spin on mac 'n cheese AND about 50% of these versions broke the cardinal rules!  Scrolling social media, I found myself saying "oh no baby what is you doin' " countless times!  So I decided that as a connoisseur of mac 'n [...]

Sweet Potato Honey Cornbread Recipe

I had a vision for a cornbread that included sweet potato flavors and honey.    So I set out to making it essentially playing on my favorite Krusteaz Honey Cornbread.   Generally, when I play around with recipes, one or two takes and I have it down.   Who would have thought that cornbread of all things would be so tricky!  I mean most of us grew up with Jiffy that only required an egg to get it going.  Simple right?? Wrong!  So after three tries I finally have perfected by Sweet Potato Honey Cornbread Recipe just in time for Thanksgiving! Check [...]

Sweet Potato Cake with Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

The official first day of fall is tomorrow September 22nd and you know what that means for a foodie?! It's SWEET POTATO TIME!  That's right, I said sweet potato NOT pumpkin.  Nothing says fall for me more like a sweet potato. Yes, I skip right past the pumpkin spice aisle because that is not my life LOL.  Since the rest of the country is not on the same bandwagon as me, that requires me to make my own sweet potato dishes.   As I scrolled through Pinterest and saw pumpkin spice cakes, I was instantly inspired to make a sweet [...]

Brioche French Toast Casserole

I have quite a bit of time on my hands due to Hurricane Harvey.   I have spent some time volunteering and working on long term efforts with some of my blogger friends.   But I STILL had some time on my hands.  So what's a food blogger to do?  Play around in the kitchen that's what.  As a brunch lover, I have wanted to create a French Toast Casserole after seeing Tia Mowry's version on her cooking show!  Now seemed like a great time to create a Brioche French Toast Casserole! Check out the recipe below. Brioche French Toast [...]

No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Yes this is another ice cream recipe because I am OBSESSED with making ice cream okay?   Everyone will deal! This one is a little different though.  I decided to step away from my typical ice cream recipes  that require the Kitchen Aid ice cream attachment and create a no churn recipe.  Basically, you make it, freeze it and serve! It takes NO time.   For my first attempt, I went for a recipe that is similar to the Talenti Caramel Crunch that I love, and created a No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream! No Churn Caramel Chocolate Chip Ice Cream [...]

Whipped Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

For those who follow me on Instagram, you may have been watching my chocolate cake progress over the last few months! I have used a few Pinterest recipes for the chocolate cake and they have all turned out well.  For the buttercream and ganache though, I keep toying with it to get the flavor and consistencies I like!  The ganache is still a work in process because it's not dripping the way I want it to *heavy sighs*.  This go around, I made a cake for my sister's birthday and it was a beauty plus the chocolate buttercream came out PERFECT. [...]
