Eadeaux’s Food Truck

A few months back I introduced you all to a new group I helped form, the Black Blogger Clique.  Our aim is to create a collective of black bloggers who curate events and content that fits our key demographic, black women.  We are still in the beginning stages so bare with us, but we did recently host our very first tasting.  Other than being fabulous women of color, our other shared trait is food so a foodie event seemed perfect.  Eadeaux's Cajun Cocina Food Truck (black owned!) graciously hosted our group and provided us plenty of content to share! So [...]

East Hampton Sandwich Co.

East Hampton Sandwich Co. is coming in with a bang as it joins the Houston food scene.  They opened their first location in the ultra chic River Oaks District a few months back and have now joined Velvet Taco in a new retail space in Montrose.  I had the pleasure of visiting yesterday during their grand opening and of course I have thoughts below on East Hampton Sandwich Co.! Location/Setup Located at the corner of Westheimer and Montrose, the second location is in a great spot near Snooze and Velvet Taco.   Best of all, it has its own parking lot [...]

Pinkerton’s Texas Pit Barbecue

I feel obligated to start with this whenever I write a blog post about Texas Barbecue.  I am originally from Kansas City, Missouri therefore I see KC Barbecue as the pinnacle of good barbecue #dontdebateme.  As such, I am typically iffy about trying out barbecue spots here in Texas despite all of the hype and praise.   Well a few months back, I had a sample of Pinkerton's at the Houston Chronicle Culinary Stars event.  It was a small brisket slider on a jalapeño bun, but it won me over enough to at least stop by.  So I did just that... [...]

Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill

Bronx's own Jamaican restaurant Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill made its way to Houston opening TWO locations in the last few weeks! They hosted a grand opening with much fanfare a few weekends ago.  I was feeling a bit anti-social so I skipped the big party and decided to swing by on a quiet Saturday to try out Golden Krust!  In short, I enjoyed it but keep reading for the full experience ! The Setup I visited the Westheimer location which is in a busy shopping center near a Home Depot and Pet's Mart.  I expect it do well [...]

For the Kulture

Earlier this week, I visited Kulture with a group of food blogger friends.  Kulture is a new restaurant in the convention center part of downtown, owned and operated by Marcus Davis, the owner of the Breakfast Klub.  Now, the Breakfast Klub is truly a Houston institution, so I was eager to visit this new concept! In short, as the name implies, this restaurant is the epitome of "For the Kulture!" The Location/Setup Kulture took up residence in the Avendia Houston building which connects to the new Marriot Marquis Houston.  With a prime location, Kulture will certainly pull the after work [...]

Ramen Tatsu Ya

We are all friends here so I can be honest with you.   For the longest time, if you mentioned "ramen" to me my mind instantly went back to that sodium filled childhood favorite.   It was the only thing my parents let me "cook" when they were not home!  Well with age, I learned that the real ramen, a Japanese favorite is NOTHING like that junk I ate as a kid!  This week, I had the pleasure of trying out the real deal at Ramen Tatsu-ya!  Catch all of the fun below. The Setup and Location Ramen Tatsu Ya, is located [...]

Week 1: Houston Restaurant Weeks!

August is the month where food bloggers like myself run around like crazy people trying to eat at ALL the good restaurants during Houston Restaurant Weeks for the low.  Add in that a portion of my meal purchase goes to charity?  Yeah I'm in there like swimwear.   For those who do not know, each August Houston's premiere restaurants participate in Houston Restaurants Weeks.  They offer two to three course meals during brunch, lunch, or dinner for $20-45 bucks!  It is the BEST time to try that restaurant that may set you back a few coins. So I being the [...]
