This food blogger *points to self* is knee deep in a two week trial at Revolution Studios and I wanted to share with you all a bit of my experience! No worries, I am not turning into some fitness or health blogger.  That's just not my life!  But lets be honest!  Life is about balance and let me tell you once you cross that 30 year threshold, you need more balance.   So I am trying to increase my activity level a bit and do things that I enjoy like Yoga.  So check out all the fun with this post on [...]

Week 1: Houston Restaurant Weeks!

August is the month where food bloggers like myself run around like crazy people trying to eat at ALL the good restaurants during Houston Restaurant Weeks for the low.  Add in that a portion of my meal purchase goes to charity?  Yeah I'm in there like swimwear.   For those who do not know, each August Houston's premiere restaurants participate in Houston Restaurants Weeks.  They offer two to three course meals during brunch, lunch, or dinner for $20-45 bucks!  It is the BEST time to try that restaurant that may set you back a few coins. So I being the [...]

So after slaying at the Brunch and Slay event, I hightailed it across town for another great event!  A blogger friend of mine wears many hats.  Karissa works full time, manages to run a pretty awesome travel blog and still finds time to have a non-profit Whys Girls!  Last Saturday I attended the Whys Girls Cupcake Wars Fundraiser, an event that showcased 12 cupcake bakers plus went to a good cause! More about Whys Girls Whys Girls aims to equip local Houston girls with knowledge and wisdom so that they may succeed beyond the classroom.  How do you do that you [...]

Brunch and Slay Recap

Last week I had the privilege of attending the annual Brunch and Slay brunch hosted at at 51fifteen in Saks 5th Avenue!  As the organization name implies, this event is solely for women who enjoy a good brunch (totally me) and like to slay in the fashion department.  On a basic level it's an excuse to dress up for a brunch with a fun group of women!  I had such a good time at this event that I had to come back and do a recap!  Check out my Brunch and Slay Recap for all of the fun! What is Brunch [...]

Brunchin’ with Black Girls Who Brunch

I am so excited to share with you all, that I have officially planned my first brunch event, Brunchin' with Black Girls Who Brunch! With a name like Black Girls Who Brunch many folks have assumed that I host events.  The look of disappointment every time I said "no, I just brunch"  got me to thinking.   I put the idea in the back of mind as something I should do sooner than later.   The problem though was planning an event required me to step out of my comfort zone to create an opportunity for BGWB!  Funny thing is [...]

#GirlsNightOut Unicorn Edition

A few weeks back I traveled to a magical place where unicorns roam, women of all colors and creeds can gather for fun AND hopefully calories do not count.  Where is this magical place you ask?  It's curated by Erin, the creator of Ms. Independent.  Every so often, Ms. Independent hosts a fabulous event called #GirlsNightOut.  I had the pleasure of attending Erin's latest event, #GirlsNightOut Unicorn Edition! The Setup Attendees, pay about $30 for tickets to the event.  These events are typically hosted at some fabulous Houston high rise.  The Unicorn Edition was no different!  Guests joined the party [...]

KURIOS at Peli Peli

I entered the food blogger scene about two years ago and during that time I have attended tons of events hosted by South African restaurant Peli Peli.  From popups, tv show premieres to tastings at Peli Peli Kitchen and Peli Deli.  Somehow I managed to never stop by Peli Peli in the Galleria mall despite even having gift cards to use for a visit!  Well, I finally joined the in crowd and visited Peli Peli last week to preview their Cirque Du Soleil, KURIOS at Peli Peli Menu! The Setup Peli Peli is growing faster than I can keep up.  The [...]

Cochon555 Event Preview and Giveaway!

The Cochon555 14 city tour is making its way back to Houston this month for an exciting food competition. As the name implies this event will feature 5 chefs, 5 pigs and 5 wine makers.   At the heart of the event is charity.  Cochon555 started in 2008 as a means to raise money for family farmers who are raising heritage breed pigs.  As such, the event focuses on old ole' pork!  Other than charity, the other major component is the competition where five local chefs each roast a whole heritage breed pig and prepare a 6-dish menu to pair [...]
