House of Blues Gospel Brunch

Alright, I am guessing that like me, many of my followers have heard of the House of Blues Gospel Brunch which is held monthly at House of Blues locations around the country.   Also, like me many of you probably have never been partly because you are not sure what to expect.  I mean it is not MY church so will they play OUR kind of gospel music?? And what about the food? Will it be good? These are all questions I wondered after being offered two passes to the House of Blues Gospel Brunch sponsored by Cricket Wireless.  I grabbed [...]

My dad turned 60 at the end of last year and as you would expect, we wanted to do something special!  My sister came up with the genius idea to hire a private chef to cook a birthday brunch right in our home kitchen.  Even better, I just happen to know a private chef, my friend Chef Vicky who runs the blog Tha Fat Girl Food Chronicles.   We quickly linked with her and planned a Birthday Brunch by Chef Vicky.   Keep reading for all of the fun details! Houston Chronicle Culinary Stars

As a food blogger, one of my FAVORITE foodie lists is the 100 Top Restaurants list curated by Houston Chronicle Food Critic Alison Cook. Every year I use this list as a guide for new food adventures and to pat myself on the back when places I reviewed make the list. I love that it always plays homage to the diverse cuisines that are represented in this diverse metropolis. From Asian standouts, to soul food, and of course Texas barbecue, they all will be represented. There is also great care to ensure the list includes a variety of price points [...]

Volunteering at the Houston Food Bank

In true Houston fashion, Houstonians are around town trying to help and volunteer wherever they can.   Many places have had AMAZING turnout and are having to turn volunteers away!  I have had so many friends reach out and tell me they are having a hard time finding places to volunteer because places are full!  This is so representative of the city I know and love!   Yesterday, I spent the evening volunteering at the Houston Food Bank to help with the increase need after the hurricane.  I thought I would share you with you about my fun experience Volunteering [...]
