Brunch at Around the Corner

EADO (East Downtown) seems to be the new hot area in Houston! I guess I am a follower because this is my third post from a spot in EADO this summer alone!  This past weekend I grabbed by blogger friend Chef Vicky and we headed to Around the Corner to catch up on things like Insecure and strategize about this blogging game.   Check out my recap of Brunch at Around the Corner! The Setup: Around the Corner is housed in a converted 1930s bungalow.   The charm of the home remains with original hard floors and a floor plan [...]

It’s Not Delivery, It’s Brunch at Home!

So technically it IS delivery, but I loved this title so I had to go with it!  Brunch is very much a social experience. You grab your crew and catch up on the good gossip around a carafe of mimosas.  I completely get that, but some days I just want the food without the fluff.   Basically send me the chicken and waffles to my door, so I do not have to don makeup and a cute outfit!  For me, during the weekend when I am working my to 5-9 (i.e. this blog) having brunch delivered is THE best thing! [...]

Brunch and Slay Recap

Last week I had the privilege of attending the annual Brunch and Slay brunch hosted at at 51fifteen in Saks 5th Avenue!  As the organization name implies, this event is solely for women who enjoy a good brunch (totally me) and like to slay in the fashion department.  On a basic level it's an excuse to dress up for a brunch with a fun group of women!  I had such a good time at this event that I had to come back and do a recap!  Check out my Brunch and Slay Recap for all of the fun! What is Brunch [...]

BGWB Event Recap!

I am still floating from yesterday! My brunch event, Brunchin' with Black Girls Who Brunch went SO well.  Here is a quick recap.  After much encouragement, on June 10th I hosted my very first brunch event at Harold's in the Heights!  Myself and 39 other ladies met/networked, sipped mimosas, had a photoshoot and dined on good food!  Here are all the dets from the brunch! My Outfit *Puts on fashion blogger hat for two seconds*  I loved my outfit! I stepped out of my norm and went for the princess look. The shirt of course was a Black Girls Who [...]

Biskit Junkie

I spent last weekend running errands related to my upcoming Brunchin' with Black Girls Who Brunch event! I seriously cannot wait and find a way to bring it up in just about any conversation.  Anywho, with any food blogger you run a few errands and you are quickly plotting on a food stop as well.  Biskit Junkie happened to be in the vicinity and since I'd never been, I quickly decided it was a good idea.  Keeping reading for all of the details of my experience! The Setup So I am going to keep it real here about my experience [...]

Etta’s at Bar 5015

So, you may have noticed that I included Etta's at Bar 5015 on my most recent brunch list.   Well here is thing, I actually had not been there yet!  I honestly included it based on reputation and my previous experiences with Etta's!  But I felt like a poser, and that ain't me!  Last weekend, I finally gathered a group and we visited Etta's at Bar 5015 to see what the hype was about. Setup/Location Here is the important thing I want to be clear on, this is a PARTY.  This is not a brunch restaurant where you sip mimosas [...]

French Riviera Bakery and Cafe

Guesssss what?! I found my very own authentic French cafe, French Rivera Bakery and Cafe, right here in Houston!  Well okay, I did not find it.  Several friends and fellow bloggers had encouraged me to stop by for some true French pastries right in my "backyard."  I finally made it by a few weekends ago for a quick breakfast.  Here is a quick post sharing my experience. The Setup Apparently the current location is an upgrade from a previous spot the restaurant occupied for decades.  The newer digs has it's own parking lot which is great, but let me tell [...]

International Waffle Day Grand Lux

I live for a food holiday because I am GREAT at celebrating those! This Saturday (March 25th) happens to be International Waffle Day and as you can imagine a brunch connoisseur like myself is excited.  In preparation for Saturday's "holiday",  Grand Lux invited me out to try their chicken and waffle dish assuring me that it rivaled the best in the city.  Check out my review below of International Waffle Day Grand Lux! Location If you have followed me for awhile you know that I am a self admitted snob who typically frequents local spots.  I will turn my nose up [...]

Crawl for the Culture

This St. Patrick's day weekend I decided to hop in a time machine and go back to being twenty-one. You know the period of your life where calories do not count, bedtimes do not exist and hangovers are what older folks complain about. Who did I think I was?! At the very least I have fun stories to share with you. Since Friday marked St. Patrick's day and I decided I was twenty-one again, that meant I had to hit the streets!  After a crazy fun night in midtown, I woke up to do it all over again with the Crawl for [...]

The Raven Grill Brunch

My friends introduce me as the girl who has a blog called "Black Girls Who Brunch."  Then they add, "but she NEVER posts about brunch though!"  I of course hit 'em with a serious side-eye and explain that a black girl who brunches is multi-faceted!  I feel the need to say this at the start of every brunch post because I hate to see the "FINALLY" comments from my friends.  So yes, I say all of this to say, I found a new brunch spot that I must share with you guys! Last week, my super talented cousin Kamilah came to [...]
