Brunch at Poitin

Last weekend I finally scheduled a brunch using the Houston Restaurant Weeks menus!  During the month of August, many local restaurants offer a $20 tasting brunch menu for the Houston Restaurant Weeks initiative.  Best of all a portion of the proceeds to go to the Houston Food Bank! With this in mind, I gathered some of my favorite bloggers for Brunch at Poitin! Why We Met Photographed here -Angelle from Brunchin with Gelle, Kenya from SuperK Eatz Htown, Bridgette from Bits n Bites, Mila from the Hangry Woman, Renia from Gristle and Gossip, MEEEE, Jasmene from Fashionably late Foodie, Dalida from [...]

*This post is sponsored by #FeedaBee, but all thoughts and opinions are my own!* Yesterday, I had the privilege of visiting the Feed A Bee event at Sur La Table in celebration of National Honey Bee Day!  Our visit was full of education on the importance of honey bees, a great cooking class and of course food!  Read along for all of the details on Feed a Bee at Sur La Table. Present Company

Every few months a new hot spot pops up, someone deems it "Instagram Worthy" then all of the bloggers flock there to take pictures for the gram to impress our followers.  Please know that I am not throwing that shade at anybody but myself because I did JUST this over the weekend.  I grabbed some girlfriends and went to Houston's newest bar Present Company, so I can tell y'all ALL of the tea before you trek over there and spend your coins! The Setup I always thought the previous establishment Royal Oak was fine and was shocked when they closed [...]

Auntie Barbie’s Banana Pudding

So let's talk about my Auntie Barbie's Banana Pudding.   Here is a little background.  I have shared before that my aunts have a catering company in Kansas City, Three Sisters Catering.  They serve up all of the best soul food dishes at the finest church functions!  Of the three, my Auntie Barbie is the dessert queen.  I kid you not, on any given holiday she is rolling up with four cakes, four pies, dozens of cookies and other desserts like banana pudding.  Nobody in our family would DARE bring a dessert because nobody will eat it if ain't made by [...]

Bat Tour on Buffalo Bayou

Growing up in Houston, you are all too familiar with our largest most powerful bayou, the Buffalo Bayou, that meanders through the city.  As a kid, I often longed for it be more like the Riverwalk not really understanding the value that it presents to our city as is.  Well, I recently had a unique opportunity to see Buffalo Bayou up close.  Actually on the water.  In a boat.  Oh and with wine!  Yes folks, on a random Thursday I took a Bat Tour on Buffalo Bayou and here is why you should too! Waugh Boat Tour Views of [...]

Jazz Brunch at Restaurant R’evolution

It should be no surprise that I HAD to find a brunch spot while in New Orleans for Essence Fest.  We settled on the Jazz Brunch at Restaurant R'evolution.  This restaurant is housed in the Royal Sonesta which sits prominently on Bourbon street in the heart of the French Quarter! So on top of having the perfect location, the other elements of the Jazz Brunch at Restaurant R'evolution are perfection! The Drinks We started the morning with a round of Pimm's Cups.  This cocktail includes gin, liqueur, fruit juices and a bit of spice that gives it a kick.  Before [...]

Get the Essence Fest App Have you downloaded the Essence Festival app? Looks like they scrapped the one from 2017 and started over.  Quite frankly, this new one is MUCH better than last year.  [...]

East Hampton Sandwich Co.

East Hampton Sandwich Co. is coming in with a bang as it joins the Houston food scene.  They opened their first location in the ultra chic River Oaks District a few months back and have now joined Velvet Taco in a new retail space in Montrose.  I had the pleasure of visiting yesterday during their grand opening and of course I have thoughts below on East Hampton Sandwich Co.! Location/Setup Located at the corner of Westheimer and Montrose, the second location is in a great spot near Snooze and Velvet Taco.   Best of all, it has its own parking lot [...]
