Strawberry Champagne Cake

Hey friends! Celebrating Black History Month with the Black Blogger Clique

Happy Black History Month folks! This month, we celebrate our culture and our history!  As a brand built on the celebration of blackness in the area of food and a lover of black history, I would be remiss if I did not highlight February.  For the month of February, I along with the Black Blogger Clique will be celebrating Houston's Black Owned Restaurants!  One of our collective goals is to highlight and support black owned restaurants through our blogs and we have found some fun ways to do just that for February.   Check out the details below on Celebrating Black [...]

Cultivated F+B in the Lancaster Hotel

When I rattle of Houston facts to a non-believer I generally mention that Houston boasts the second largest theater district in terms of seats.  I say this so proudly while privately I have to admit it is rare that I visit one of our beautiful theater district venues!  Well I guess I was due for another visit because late last fall a blogger friend dropped an event in our group chat that I could NOT miss.  Y'all, Boyz II Men scheduled a performance with the Houston Symphony at Jones Hall.  My R&B loving self would rollout to see Boyz II [...]

Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup

Houston decided it wanted to have a bit of winter these last few weeks.  So that means I have been stuck in the house under a blanket seeking warm comfort foods like soups.  Rather than opting for that can stuff, I decided to make my own!  I used my new dutch oven once again to create my own Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup recipe.  Many of you asked for me to share the recipe, so here it is!  Super simple and great for a winter day! Recipe Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup featuring coconut milk  8-10 ounces egg [...]

Apple Cinnamon Mini Bundt Cakes with Envy Apples!

*Thanks to Envy Apples for sponsoring this post!  Please note the opinions and recipe included in this post are all me* The older I get, the more I pay attention to the types of food I purchase and eat.  The cheapest option may not always be the best and that super processed food we all grew up on is no longer the move.  The hardest thing about this is stepping away from the brands you've known your whole life.   When I think about apples for example, there are a couple of types that I grew up eating and I do [...]

Brunch at A’Bouzy

Forgive me friends for I have failed you.  A'Bouzy opened some years ago and I, your self proclaimed Houston brunch guide, just went last weekend.  I owe you apologies because brunch at A'Bouzy is everything a good brunch should be.  It is bougie and it is bozzy.   So if you waited for me to give it the Black Girls Who Brunch approval, here it is folks Brunch at A'Bouzy is my favorite brunch of 2019 and the year just started. Omni Houston Hotel

About two weeks before Hurricane Harvey I toured the Omni Houston Hotel with the Houston Food Blogger Collective.  We loved our tour and I actually wrote my review while holed up during the storm.  I never shared the post though because I soon learned that the Omni Houston took on several feet of water and would be closed for renovations.  Over a year later and $30 million in renovations, the Omni Houston is back open with a whole new look. Just last weekend, our group went back for a tour and I gotta say I love the new Omni Houston [...]

Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina

With everyone so hung up on brunch, it seems like we forget how great a simple breakfast can be.  I got a reminder last weekend with a stop over to Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina in Memorial for their weekend breakfast!  It is so good and worth the early morning wake up! The bar area! The Drinks Since it was still breakfast, I kind of expected to only be offered coffee and OJ (hold the pulp).  Well the one thing that feels brunch like would be the drink menu.   The brunch cocktails include sangria, bloody marys and the [...]
