Last month I did a “restaurant dump” for August and you all seemed to like it! I love when a new idea aligns with my audience. So I am back for the month of September with a new list of restaurants to try. Remember, this is just a quick way to share restaurants that I visited recently, may have posted on Instagram, but did not get a chance to do a full dedicated blog post. Here we go, 10 Houston Restaurants to Visit in September 2021
Bayou & Bottle
Before the world shut down, Bayou & Bottle was one of my go to spots for a happy hour. If I had a downtown event I would valet there, grab a bite to eat and then head to the event. I visited for lunch a few weeks back and am happy to report that their food is still great! I ordered from the restaurant week menu which featured a Feges brisket sandwich and a great caesar salad. These items may not be on their permanent menu, however they are a good representation of the bites you will get from there.
Barnaby’s

Chopped Chef Salad
Barnaby’s gets a visit from me at least 3x a month. With locations all around Houston, they are one of the most convenient places to grab a great salad from work or home. Their salads are HUGE and really can be two meals. Plus they are made with the best ingredients. I always order the House Salad with chicken and the honey mustard dressing. THE BEST.
Fainmous BBQ
This black owned establishment is serving up Tennessee style barbecue right here in Houston. On my visit I grabbed brisket and when I noted I’m from Kansas City originally, he threw in some burnt ends. That tells me this man knows his barbecue. For me though, the star of the show there are the sides! So often bbq places outsource their sides or don’t spend much time on them. Here, the mac and cheese and their creamed spinach are delicious. Be sure to give them a try.
City Orchard
Right next door to Fainmous you’ll find City Orchard, a cidery that also offers great food. I took my cousin there a few months back and we ordered the cider flight. I was also starving so I grabbed the burger and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Seasoned well and a good portion.
Rodeo Goat
Speaking of burgers, I was late to the party on Rodeo Goat but they really do have good burgers! Since they are located in EADO near tons of bars I kinda figured they were a bar as well. I finally decided to give them a try a few months back and did not regret the decision. Great burgers and good fries.
Love Buzz Montrose
I randomly found Love Buzz on Uber Eats one evening. To know Houston is to know that we don’t have too many remarkable pizza places, but I was truly impressed with Love Buzz. They open late ensuring they can serve up pizza well into the morning hours.
Fish-man and Son Seafood
This trip to the Northside was all KeAndre of My Southern Brand’s fault! He’s been on a mission to highlight restaurants serving real catfish because so many are opting for a cheaper fish called swai. After getting duped by some swai, I was determined to eat some good catfish on that day! So I made the trip way up north to try this black owned neighborhood restaurant.
Osso & Kristalla
If you caught my last restaurant dump, you may recall that I added Osso & Kristalla as a bonus. Well I went back and had that lasagna again last month so I felt like it needed a dedicated spot this month. Go to Osso & Kristalla. Get the lasagna. Thank me later.
Boo’s Burgers Pop-Up
Listen influencers get influenced too. All my social media friends were raving about these smash burgers from the Boo’s Burgers Pop-Up so that meant I had to go too. I pre-ordered my burger and picked it up at the Tipping Point downtown. The smash burger really does live up to the
Nobie’s
At the peak of the foolery we endured last year, Nobie’s was one of my go to takeout spots. And you had to order early because they would legit sell out quickly. Visit for their amazing desserts and their pasta too!
The Takeaway
September is the tail end of patio month and one of the our last few months of longer days. Enjoy some dining (safely of coure) before we all start to hibernate for winter/fall.
