I am SO excited to finally announce the details of my next Black Girls Who Brunch event! After the success of my first event last summer, people of course asked for details for the next event. I tested out options, considered locations all with the goal of topping the previous event and bringing something different to the Houston brunch scene. I also love creating events with black women in mind. Well, being intentional and well thought out has its rewards folks! So here we are after months of planning I can FINALLY announce my next event:
BGWB presents Beauty and the BRUNCH with Mo Knows Hair and Sally Beauty!
Saturday March 24th 12pm-2pm
Etta’s Kitchen 4212 Emancipation Ave, Houston Texas 77004
The beauty portion of this event will be brought to you by beauty blogger Mo Knows Hair and Sally Beauty!
Monica (Mo), known as “MoKnowsHair,” is a licensed cosmetologist and blogger focused on healthy hair care tips, styling methods and product reviews. She was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and has always had a natural talent for hair styling and maintenance. To enhance her natural skill, Monica earned her cosmetology certification at Aveda Institute New York, on full scholarship from the brand and currently operates her own hair salon in Manhattan. She has also joined the Sally Beauty team as a stylist and texture expert. Mo hopes to continue to be a positive influence in the community, encouraging all women and men to embrace their hair.
It would not be a BGWB event if the food details were not on point. I have placed this tall order in the very cable hands of my friend Chef Vicky! A graduate of the JNA Institute of Culinary Arts, Vicky has been a chef in the Houston area for over five years. She specializes in date nights for small groups. For this event, Vicky has curated a menu which will include a french toast bar and a mimosa bar. To learn more about Vicky’s amazing creations check out my post here and head to her blog Tha Fat Girl Food Chronicles!
My Houston brunch lovers are probably pretty familiar with the Etta’s pop up over at 5015 on Sundays! Etta’s also has an event space in the heart of third ward! Here, owner Shakti Baum and other local chefs host cooking classes and other events. I love this space and know my fellow brunch lovers will enjoy it too.
For the price of admission guests will be treated to:
- A brunch created by Chef Vicky
- A mimosa bar
- A fabulous gift bag curated by Mo Knows Hair with items from Sally Beauty!
- Plus giveaways!
