The great PR folks over at Integrate invited myself and several other bloggers to the grand opening of the Dave and Busters Friendswood a few weeks back. I took a much needed personal day from my real job to be a kid all day at Dave and Busters! Everyone needs those types of hooky days once in around right? When it opened last month, Dave and Busters Friendswood became the third location in Houston. I have visited all three and have to say the Friendswood location has some key additions that makes it a draw for the whole Houston metropolitan area.

The ribbon cutting for opening day!
Location: I will admit, when I first saw “Baybrook mall” and “Friendswood” I thought ohhh that is FAR! I grew up way on the other side of Houston, so anything out east headed towards Galveston feels like a new city to me. Integrate was kind of enough to shuttle us out there from their Upper Kirby office. I settled in for what I expected to be a long car ride, but we arrived to the Baybrook Mall fairly quickly. I-45 near Baybrook Mall is under heavy construction, so maneuvering to the mall can be quite difficult. I imagine it will get better soon.

Dave and Busters Friendswood is a part of Baybrook mall.
The Setup: I have visited some newer Dave and Busters locations in other states. Quite frankly, the older two Houston locations are not up to par with newer Dave and Busters locations. The Baybrook/Friendswood location brings Houston into 2015 with features that other cities have been enjoying for some time. Yes, it still has the typical game room and restaurant, but it adds a dedicated sports bar and conference rooms for corporate events. For businesses in the Friendswood area, the conference rooms will be great of course. For the rest of us who work in the loop, the sports bar is why we would come here. There so many televisions in that area that they are guaranteed to be playing a game that you want to see. Dave and Busters also shows love to local sports teams throughout the decor, so I am sure this will always be a great place to root for the home team.
Food: Most of us in attendance are “food bloggers” so Dave and Busters made to sure to pull out the whole spread of the food that they offer. I will be honest and say Dave and Busters is not where you go for the finest culinary experience, but for a sports bar or a gaming spot, the food is decent. I enjoyed one of the burgers that I nibbled on and of course the fries were good. If you are craving something sweet, you really cannot go wrong with the chocolate cake. Oh and they have fondue! If you go with a group, I think the best thing you can order is the sampler which includes quesadillas, wings, and waffle fries. You really cannot go wrong with that.
Drinks: Even though it was early, I had to order the Strawberry Watermelon Margarita! I have had this drink before at another Dave and Busters location and it was really memorable. A few key things that make it stand out, the strawberry ice cubes that melt and make the drink’s flavor get better overtime instead of more watered down. Then the green sugar just makes it cute and what girl doesn’t want a cute drink in her hand as she plays games! The staff said this margarita is their biggest seller and I can see why. Make sure to get one of those while you are there.
Overall: Without a doubt this location offers a lot more than the other two Houston locations. Yes, for most Houstonians, it is a trek out to Friendswood/Baybrook, but I think once you have arrived you will not regret making the drive out that way!
