For most folks when we are on the hunt for a quick inexpensive lunch or dinner that usually means something unhealthy like fast food! I am nearing 30 (tear) and my body no longer considers fast food as food, so that means I have had to find some new staples. One of my go to places for quick, cheap and healthy is the salad bar Salata! I discovered this place a few years back while living in the Energy Corridor when they only had a few locations. I looked up a few years later and Salata had expanded to every mall in Houston and a million shopping centers. All the more convenient for me.
Here are a few things that stand about Salata for me as opposed to other salad bars
- They do not weigh your salad so you can pile on your toppings a mile high
- They offer a lot of meats Several types of chicken, shrimp, salmon, turkey. You name it they have it!
- For non meat eaters like my dad, they offer plenty of proteins like beans. You can really load your salad up with filling non meat items.
- They have great wraps! That is usually what I go for. I have even replicated their wraps at home. Croutons and all
There are all the pictures from the different components of the salad bar.
This time, my sister and I made a quick stop to the location in the Galleria mall food court. Funny story, the first time I took her to Salata, she snapped at me for taking her to a “salad bar” when she was hungry. HA! Now she goes there more often than me. On this visit, we were there on a slow day. Most of their locations have lines out the door during lunch time. I keep my salads simple, while my sister really gets her $10 bucks worth by getting every topping they have to offer. I went for the a wrap with pesto chicken and a side of pita chips on this trip. It was good per usual.
