Shake Shack is HERE!

Guess what guys, Shake Shack is here! Shake Shack is here!!!  Well, almost! This past weekend Shake Shack hosted a pop up at Pass and Provisions  to get Houstonians excited about the new addition to the Houston burger scene.  In a few weeks, Shake Shack will take up residence in the newly remodeled Saks 5th Avenue wing in the Galleria.   I got a chance to stop by the pop up last weekend and here are my thoughts. The Food: The menu was a "give them a small taste" type of menu with only a few options.  For example they did not [...]

Hopdoddy Houston

Hopdoody joined the Houston food scene a few months ago and I finally got a chance to stop by!  I visited Hopdoddy during an Austin trip last year and grabbed a burger to go due to the long line.  I blogged about that trip here, but since Hop Doddy is now in Houston, it is worth sharing about the Houston location. On this occasion, we were looking for a spot in the River Oaks district to fill up on some real food before we indulged on gelato over at Amorino.  We figured Hopdoddy's burgers and fries would do the trick! [...]

Springbok Houston

Time and time again I find myself trying a cuisine or a restaurant that I would not have tried prior to becoming a food blogger. Springbok on Main Street is the perfect example of this!  A few years back I was invited to happy hour at Springbok.   After a bit of googling, I discovered that Springbok is a restaurant/bar specializing in South African cuisine.  Ignorant old me wanted no parts of that and declined the invitation.  Fast forward to now and I am currently the events chair for the Houston Food Blogger Collective.  Our group was invited to a [...]

Uber Eats and the Halal Guys

No one told me that Uber Eats expanded their delivery area to now include my home AND office!  Upon discovering this, I tossed the Lean Cuisine I had for lunch to the side and went straight to the app to order. Within an hour, I had Halal Guys at my door thanks to UberEats.  Check out my thoughts below! How it Works If you have used Uber, you can make your way through UberEats.  The apps are virtually the same.  After selecting your pick up location, you peruse through the menus that are available in your area.  Each restaurant has [...]

Four Seasons Spa Houston

The Four Seasons is one of Houston's premiere hotels located near all the downtown happenings of the Toyota Center, House of Blues and Green Street.  As of late, there is a lot of construction in this area. From new hotels like the Marriott set to have a Texas shaped lazy river, to street upgrades and remodels like the one at the Four Seasons.  I was invited out along with my Houston Food Blogger Collective friends to visit the new upgraded spa and to check out the spa menu! While waiting at the lobby bar, the bartender told me that the [...]

Fajitas A Go Go Review

I had a few friends in town this weekend for Beyonce's hometown concert.  I do not care what anyone says, I will never pay to see her anywhere but Houston! This was my third Beyonce concert and the best one yet. At the end of the concert, she signed off by saying she was going to get some good food.  I thought awww Beyonce is a foodie like myself! By Monday the internet was ablaze with the restaurants Beyonce graced with her presence over the weekend.  After the concert, she jetted over to BB's Cafe, a 24 hour spot that specializes [...]

Jerry Built Burgers

Yes, this is another review of a burger spot in Houston, but you are going to like it!  Houston has a lot of burger spots and will soon add national favorites, Hopdoddy and Shake Shack.  I am slowly eating my way through all of the local favorites and only blogging about the ones I really liked.  Trust, all of the places I eat do not make it on the blog or my social media accounts.  I am still sticking with the "only positive experiences make it to the blog" rule! Anywho, last week I had the pleasure of attending a Houston [...]

Bistecca Houston

Lunch seems to be the only time I am getting out in these Houston streets and trying new restaurants! Here I am again with another edition of my Friday work lunch.   This particular week, as soon as  I walked into work, both of my co-workers peppered me with "Where are we eating Erika???"  questions.  Ohhhh the pressure!! I checked a few national food blogs and happened upon Bistecca Houston Italian Steakhouse, a new restaurant in the Montrose area! The reviews were good so we figured we would take the chance! Setup: I have passed Bistecca a couple of times since [...]

The Kitchen at the Dunlavy

Houston spring is upon us!! The fact that by February we are back to sunny skies and 70 degree weather is why I will never trade in my hometown for a fancier model.  When the sun is shining I need to be out in the streets doing something and that generally includes eating.  On a Friday earlier this month, my co-worker and I stopped by the Kitchen at the Dunlavy for a quick lunch at this beautiful venue. Location/Setup: The Kitchen at the Dunlavy is part of the new Buffalo Bayou park along Allen Parkway.  The area includes [...]

Killen’s Barbecue and Tailgating

I have proclaimed my love of Kansas City barbecue on this very venue a many a times.  I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge that the place that I currently reside is also known for being home of the best barbecue in the country as well (I only acknowledge Texas, Memphis and KC for this accolade!).  When I mention that I have a food blog there are certain places that people always ask if I have visited, Killen's in Pearland usually tops the list.  When I say that I have not been, there is initial shock and then [...]
