FM Kitchen + Bar

Houston foodies collectively mourned the closure of Triniti late last year.  Those tears were quickly calmed once the masterminds behind Triniti announced that they would be opening a new concept, FM Kitchen + Bar near the Washington Corridor before Summer 2017!  This past week, I had the privilege of visiting FM Kitchen + Bar before the grand opening.  Check out my experience below! The Setup FM Kitchen is located at Shepherd and Washington right behind the original Max's Wine Dive.  Somehow they managed to nab a location with a parking lot.  That alone will keep folks coming in!  From the parking [...]

#GirlsNightOut Unicorn Edition

A few weeks back I traveled to a magical place where unicorns roam, women of all colors and creeds can gather for fun AND hopefully calories do not count.  Where is this magical place you ask?  It's curated by Erin, the creator of Ms. Independent.  Every so often, Ms. Independent hosts a fabulous event called #GirlsNightOut.  I had the pleasure of attending Erin's latest event, #GirlsNightOut Unicorn Edition! The Setup Attendees, pay about $30 for tickets to the event.  These events are typically hosted at some fabulous Houston high rise.  The Unicorn Edition was no different!  Guests joined the party [...]

KURIOS at Peli Peli

I entered the food blogger scene about two years ago and during that time I have attended tons of events hosted by South African restaurant Peli Peli.  From popups, tv show premieres to tastings at Peli Peli Kitchen and Peli Deli.  Somehow I managed to never stop by Peli Peli in the Galleria mall despite even having gift cards to use for a visit!  Well, I finally joined the in crowd and visited Peli Peli last week to preview their Cirque Du Soleil, KURIOS menu! The Setup Peli Peli is growing faster than I can keep up.  The original Peli [...]

Cochon555 Event Preview and Giveaway!

The Cochon555 14 city tour is making its way back to Houston this month for an exciting food competition. As the name implies this event will feature 5 chefs, 5 pigs and 5 wine makers.   At the heart of the event is charity.  Cochon555 started in 2008 as a means to raise money for family farmers who are raising heritage breed pigs.  As such, the event focuses on old ole' pork!  Other than charity, the other major component is the competition where five local chefs each roast a whole heritage breed pig and prepare a 6-dish menu to pair [...]

Cinco de Mayo at Molina’s Cantina!

Just in time for Cinco De Mayo, I am recapping my visit to Molina's with my Houston Food Blogger Collective friends!  I grew up in Houston and thought I had visited all of the Houston Tex Mex staples, but somehow I missed Molina's!  Prior to our event I learned that Molina's has been a family run business in the Houston area for 76 years.  Staying in business that long in a city like Houston where the restaurant landscape is constantly changing deserves praise in and of itself.  With this in mind I was eager to see what Molina's was all about! The [...]

Happy Hour At Sambuca

We are all internet friends right? So I can be honest with you here.  Here is the truth, a couple of years ago I went to Sambuca with my foodie group and HATED it. The food, the service, everything.   I found my way back there a year or so later and thought it was better, but still no cigar.  I kept these experiences in mind when Houston Food Blogger Collective received the invite for Happy Hour at Sambuca. Look, I'm all for second chances when it come to restaurants.  Matter fact, it was a second chance that led me to fall [...]

Cafe Azur

I traveled to "France" for lunch recently and I am back just in time to share my experience with you! By France, I mean Cafe Azur, Houston's latest and greatest French restaurant.  Since opening last fall, Cafe Azur has been delighting Montrose visitors with their beautiful patio, brunch and dinner menus.  Here recently, they expanded their offerings to include lunch.  I took a break from my real paying job for a nice lunch with fellow bloggers where we experienced the French Riviera! Setup I visited Cafe Azur last fall soon after they open and loved it.  Time got away from me and [...]

Etta’s at Bar 5015

So, you may have noticed that I included Etta's at Bar 5015 on my most recent brunch list.   Well here is thing, I actually had not been there yet!  I honestly included it based on reputation and my previous experiences with Etta's!  But I felt like a poser, and that ain't me!  Last weekend, I finally gathered a group and we visited Etta's at Bar 5015 to see what the hype was about. Setup/Location Here is the important thing I want to be clear on, this is a PARTY.  This is not a brunch restaurant where you sip mimosas [...]

NOLA Poboys

A few weekends back myself and some blogger friends were treated to a tasting at NOLA Poboys!  While Houston isn't New Orleans we have a our fare share of restaurants claiming to do New Orleans staples well.  Just about any Houstonian will name off their favorite of those restaurants and tell you what they do well.  With that in mind, I was eager to see what NOLA Poboys had to offer especially after I learned that this spot was New Orleans implant. Setup and Location The owner shared with us the plans for expansion throughout the Houston suburbs, but for [...]
