The Corner in Kansas City

As you can imagine, whenever I go out of town finding a new brunch spot is on the to do list.  I had a brief stay in Kansas City (my birthplace) a few weekends ago before I headed over to my alma mater for homecoming.  With my aunt in tow, I went in search of a new Friday brunch spot in Kansas City!  Per the suggestion of my friend, we headed to the Westport area for brunch!  Keep reading for all of the tea on brunch at The Corner in Kansas City! Brunch and Football!

The calendar says it is fall, yet Houston temperatures say otherwise! Despite our fall weather challenges there are a few other signs that fall is upon us, including football!  Eventually the weather will cooperate and when it does, two of the greatest Sunday events converge to create the ultimate Sunday Funday!  Brunch and Football! So here is how I made this list.   There are plenty of brunch spots around town, but many of them do not have ample televisions to really enjoy all of the Sunday NFL games.   On the other end, many sports bars lack dedicated brunch [...]

Brioche French Toast Casserole

I have quite a bit of time on my hands due to Hurricane Harvey.   I have spent some time volunteering and working on long term efforts with some of my blogger friends.   But I STILL had some time on my hands.  So what's a food blogger to do?  Play around in the kitchen that's what.  As a brunch lover, I have wanted to create a French Toast Casserole after seeing Tia Mowry's version on her cooking show!  Now seemed like a great time to create a Brioche French Toast Casserole! Check out the recipe below. Brioche French Toast [...]

Brunch at Around the Corner

EADO (East Downtown) seems to be the new hot area in Houston! I guess I am a follower because this is my third post from a spot in EADO this summer alone!  This past weekend I grabbed by blogger friend Chef Vicky and we headed to Around the Corner to catch up on things like Insecure and strategize about this blogging game.   Check out my recap of Brunch at Around the Corner! The Setup: Around the Corner is housed in a converted 1930s bungalow.   The charm of the home remains with original hard floors and a floor plan [...]

Black Owned Brunchin’

So when I travel there are a few musts for me when it comes to food.  First, I want to stick to locally owned spots that reflect the local cuisine and culture.  Next, I gotssss to find a brunch spot.  The reason there is obvious!  Beyond that though, I also really like supporting black owned businesses!  While thinking about these three things, I decided to put together a list of black owned brunch spots around the country!  I reached out to my vast blogger circle and friends for their advice and posts so that we can spread some love via Black [...]

It’s Not Delivery, It’s Brunch at Home!

So technically it IS delivery, but I loved this title so I had to go with it!  Brunch is very much a social experience. You grab your crew and catch up on the good gossip around a carafe of mimosas.  I completely get that, but some days I just want the food without the fluff.   Basically send me the chicken and waffles to my door, so I do not have to don makeup and a cute outfit!  For me, during the weekend when I am working my to 5-9 (i.e. this blog) having brunch delivered is THE best thing! [...]

Brunch and Slay Recap

Last week I had the privilege of attending the annual Brunch and Slay brunch hosted at at 51fifteen in Saks 5th Avenue!  As the organization name implies, this event is solely for women who enjoy a good brunch (totally me) and like to slay in the fashion department.  On a basic level it's an excuse to dress up for a brunch with a fun group of women!  I had such a good time at this event that I had to come back and do a recap!  Check out my Brunch and Slay Recap for all of the fun! What is Brunch [...]

Dinner at Kitchen 713

Whew! Let's get back to the business of restaurant reviews shall we? While I worked on my event, I still tried some new places that I want to share with you!  Last week, I revisited Kitchen 713 for a tasting of their new menu items including dinner items and cocktails!  Now, I do not typically post on a restaurant several times, but considering that Kitchen 713 is in a new location and my last post was about brunch, I figured this deserved some attention.  For all of the details about setup and location check out my last post.  To get a [...]

My brunch event, Brunchin' with Black Girls Who Brunch went SO well.  Here is a quick recap.  After much encouragement, on June 10th I hosted my very first brunch event at Harold's in the Heights!  Myself and 39 other ladies met/networked, sipped mimosas, had a photoshoot and dined on good food!  Here are all the dets from the brunch! My Outfit *Puts on fashion blogger hat for two seconds*  I loved my outfit! I stepped out of my norm and went for the princess look. The shirt of course was a Black Girls Who [...]
