Etta’s at Bar 5015

So, you may have noticed that I included Etta's at Bar 5015 on my most recent brunch list.   Well here is thing, I actually had not been there yet!  I honestly included it based on reputation and my previous experiences with Etta's!  But I felt like a poser, and that ain't me!  Last weekend, I finally gathered a group and we visited Etta's at Bar 5015 to see what the hype was about. Setup/Location Here is the important thing I want to be clear on, this is a PARTY.  This is not a brunch restaurant where you sip mimosas [...]

NOLA Poboys

A few weekends back myself and some blogger friends were treated to a tasting at NOLA Poboys!  While Houston isn't New Orleans we have a our fare share of restaurants claiming to do New Orleans staples well.  Just about any Houstonian will name off their favorite of those restaurants and tell you what they do well.  With that in mind, I was eager to see what NOLA Poboys had to offer especially after I learned that this spot was New Orleans implant. Setup and Location The owner shared with us the plans for expansion throughout the Houston suburbs, but for [...]

Where to Brunch for Easter in Houston

Next Sunday is Easter Sunday, the holiest day of the year for Christians as we celebrate the resurrection!  As a kid I remember getting dolled up in bright spring colors, having my hair straightened and heading to church to celebrate the holiday.  Once at home, our Easter breakfast and subsequent dinner were usually more elaborate than every other Sunday meal, with a ham or roast and desserts.  Now, we the increased popularity of brunch I imagine my mother would have opted for that instead!  It seems to me that a brunch after Easter service goes hand and in hand.  With that [...]

Cirque Du Soleil and Ruggles Black

Cirque Du Soleil has made their triumphant return to Houston with their new show, KURIOS- Cabinet of Curiosities!  It sounds mysterious enough to pique my interest.  As always though there is a food plug here!  Local paleo restaurant, Ruggles Black decided to join the fun and create a menu based on KURIOS! I along with a group of my favorite bloggers previewed the special menu last weekend.  Keep reading for my review and more information about Cirque Du Soleil's stay in Houston. THE FOOD So let me start out with this note.  I am familiar with Ruggles Black, but avoided it because "paleo" [...]

Pike Place Market

Like I said in my last post, television shows and movies were my source for all things Seattle.  If you were an avid watcher of Real World Seattle like me, then Pike Place Market is a MUST stop for any trip to Seattle!  We spent so much time there it deserved it's very own post.  Here are all of the things I ate and saw in and around Pike Place Market. Elliott's Oyster House Our conference hosts were kind enough to provide a list of Seattle restaurants near the conference hotel.  By day two we were all craving some seafood. [...]

Writing travel blog posts may just be my favorite posts next to giveaways!  I am here to share all of the fun foodie details about my recent work trip to Seattle Washington!  Let me first get my stereotypes out of the way. I was in Seattle for three days and did not have to pull out my umbrella once!  But, I did see fish tossed around at Pike Place market, so there is that. As this was my first trip to Seattle I was fully prepared with the information I learned from Sleepless in Seattle and Real World: Seattle!  Alas, [...]

French Riviera Bakery and Cafe

Guesssss what?! I found my very own authentic French cafe, French Rivera Bakery and Cafe, right here in Houston!  Well okay, I did not find it.  Several friends and fellow bloggers had encouraged me to stop by for some true French pastries right in my "backyard."  I finally made it by a few weekends ago for a quick breakfast.  Here is a quick post sharing my experience. The Setup Apparently the current location is an upgrade from a previous spot the restaurant occupied for decades.  The newer digs has it's own parking lot which is great, but let me tell [...]

International Waffle Day – Grand Lux

I live for a food holiday because I am GREAT at celebrating those! This Saturday (March 25th) happens to be International Waffle Day and as you can imagine a brunch connoisseur like myself is excited.  In preparation for Saturday's "holiday",  Grand Lux invited me out to try their chicken and waffle dish assuring me that it rivaled the best in the city.  Check out my review below! Location If you have followed me for awhile you know that I am a self admitted snob who typically frequents local spots.  I will turn my nose up with a quickness at a franchise [...]

Crawl for the Culture

This St. Patrick's day weekend I decided to hop in a time machine and go back to being twenty-one. You know the period of your life where calories do not count, bedtimes do not exist and hangovers are what older folks complain about. Who did I think I was?! At the very least I have fun stories to share with you. Since Friday marked St. Patrick's day and I decided I was twenty-one again, that meant I had to hit the streets!  After a crazy fun night in midtown, I woke up to do it all over again with the Crawl for [...]
