Desserts and Cocktails at the Tasting Room

I thought I'd stop by for a quick post about some great additions to the Tasting Room menu! Just last week, I stopped by the City Centre location to feast on their best desserts and cocktails.  Best of all, they were fall inspired.  Yes, it was completely a sugar rush, but it was WORTH it!  Check out my post, Desserts and Cocktails at the Tasting Room for all of the details! Cocktails Infused Plums You may think of the Tasting Room for their vast wine selection.   While this is true, they also are killing the game when it [...]

Houston Chronicle Culinary Stars

As a food blogger, one of my FAVORITE foodie lists is the 100 Top Restaurants list curated by Houston Chronicle Food Critic Alison Cook. Every year I use this list as a guide for new food adventures and to pat myself on the back when places I reviewed make the list. I love that it always plays homage to the diverse cuisines that are represented in this diverse metropolis. From Asian standouts, to soul food, and of course Texas barbecue, they all will be represented. There is also great care to ensure the list includes a variety of price points [...]

National Pasta Month at Brio Tuscan Grille!

When I first moved back to Houston about five years ago, Brio Tuscan Grille in City Centre was one of my go to spots. I cannot really say why it fell out of rotation, but after my most recent visit it is DEF back on the list.   October just so happens to be National Pasta Month.  To celebrate, Brio Tuscan Grille created a two course pre fixe menu featuring some great pasta dishes.  Yesterday, myself and a friend of mine had the pleasure of sampling the whole menu! Black Girl Hair Journey

Ask a black woman about her hair and be ready to embark on a journey of growth, change and often self-discovery.   *Cues “I Am Not My Hair” and “Don’t Touch My Hair”*  IF she speaks candidly about her hair with you, the journey will likely include a few stops.  Some recurring nightmares around getting your hair pressed for Easter.  I think my ears are still deformed.  That first relaxer at a young age *wags fingers at our mothers.*  There will definitley be a story about her hair breaking off probably while in college.  It was the water in the dorms [...]

Brunch and Football!

The calendar says it is fall, yet Houston temperatures say otherwise! Despite our fall weather challenges there are a few other signs that fall is upon us, including football!  Eventually the weather will cooperate and when it does, two of the greatest Sunday events converge to create the ultimate Sunday Funday!  Brunch and Football! So here is how I made this list.   There are plenty of brunch spots around town, but many of them do not have ample televisions to really enjoy all of the Sunday NFL games.   On the other end, many sports bars lack dedicated brunch [...]
