A few weeks ago I stopped over at District 7 for a workday lunch with members of my office. District 7 has several locations. This time we went to District 7 in EADO. Yes people, Houston is picking up the New York naming of neighborhoods. EADO=East Downtown. This was my first time at this location, but I have been to the diner in midtown.
Setup: The EADO location is cute It is not as charming as the midtown location, which is styled like an old school diner. It is open late so it is super convenient for breakfast after late night clubbing. This location has the mom & pop, local restaurant feel which I prefer. It is a simple set up with no frills making it the perfect stop for a quick office lunch.
Food: I ordered the simple chicken salad because I wanted something lighter. I did not expect much from it but it was actually REALLY good. This salads were tossed with flatbread chips, basically pita chips instead of croutons. I personally like that better than traditional croutons and will be switching it when I make salads at home. The chicken was warm and seasoned well. That won points with me.
Service: You order from the counter that is straight ahead when you walk in. Your order is brought to you at the table of your choice. The food came out pretty quickly making it a great option for those who have lunch time restrictions.
I was there for work, so I did not partake in the spirits. After leaving I checked the website and saw that this District 7 location is BYOB! Cannot beat that. I have not been back yet, but after one visit this place is officially on my go to lunch spots. Good food, convenient and the prices are not bad either.
